SendToTeam connects to WordPress through its REST API. For self-hosted sites, you create an Application Password in your WordPress admin panel (Users > Your Profile > Application Passwords) and provide the credentials to SendToTeam. For WordPress.com, the connection uses WordPress.com's OAuth flow. In both cases, the connecting account's WordPress role (Author, Editor, Administrator) determines what the AI employee can do — we recommend the Author role, which allows creating posts in Draft status without the ability to publish or modify site settings.

Content drafting is focused on SEO from the ground up. Before writing, the AI employee references a target keyword (provided in the task brief or pulled from a connected content calendar), analyzes search intent for that keyword, and structures the post with a heading hierarchy that matches: an H1 title, H2 sections addressing the main subtopics, and H3s for supporting detail. The draft includes a meta title (under 60 characters), a meta description (under 155 characters), and suggested slug — all optimized for click-through rate in search results.

Posts are created using WordPress Gutenberg blocks via the REST API: paragraph blocks, heading blocks, list blocks, image blocks (with alt text), and quote blocks. The resulting draft looks and behaves identically to content you would create in the WordPress block editor. If you use Yoast SEO or Rank Math, the meta fields are populated through those plugins' REST API extensions, so the SEO analysis scores display correctly when you preview the draft.

A typical workflow: you maintain a Google Sheet with 20 target keywords, each with a search intent note and priority score. Your AI employee reads the sheet, picks the highest-priority keyword without a completed draft, researches the topic using publicly available information, and creates a WordPress post in Draft status. The post appears in your WordPress dashboard's draft list and simultaneously in your SendToTeam review queue. You edit in either place, and once you approve, the post status changes to Published.

The integration also supports updating existing posts — useful for content refresh workflows where older articles need updated statistics, new sections, or improved structure to maintain search rankings.

When this may not be the right fit

Self-hosted WordPress sites must have the REST API enabled (it is enabled by default since WordPress 4.7). WordPress.com sites require the Business plan or higher for REST API and plugin access. Content is created as Gutenberg blocks via the REST API — classic editor shortcodes and page builder shortcodes (Elementor, Divi) are not natively generated but can be added manually after draft approval. Custom post types must be registered with show_in_rest enabled.

Frequently asked questions

Does the integration work with WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress?
Yes. Self-hosted sites connect via Application Passwords and the REST API (WordPress 4.7+). WordPress.com sites connect via OAuth but require the Business plan or higher for full API and plugin access.
Can SendToTeam work with page builders like Elementor or Divi?
They create content using native Gutenberg blocks via the REST API. For Elementor or Divi layouts, the content is drafted in standard block format and you place it into your builder templates during review.
Are AI-drafted posts SEO-optimized?
Yes. Each draft includes proper heading hierarchy, a meta title under 60 characters, a meta description under 155 characters, an optimized slug, and search-intent-aligned content structure. Meta fields for Yoast SEO and Rank Math are populated automatically.
Can SendToTeam update existing WordPress content?
Yes. They can refresh posts with updated data, add new sections, improve heading structure, and update meta descriptions. All changes are saved as a draft revision for your review before going live.
